Wellington, This day. The conference of delegates from the various Chambers of Commerce in the colonyopened its proceedings in tho City Council Chamber yesterday afternoon. The gentlemen present Avere Messers E. Pearec and J. E. Nathaii,representing Wellington (the former being elected chairman) ; Messrs W. Chrvstall and Wilson, representing Christchurch ; Messrs M. Lightband and J. Sdanders, Nelson ; Messrs J. G. Kinross and T. Tanner, Napier ; and the Hon. J. Oliver, Dunedin. Mr. Larnach, M.H.R., the second representative of the Dunedin. Chamber, Avas not present. The proceedings, Avhich arc to bo conducted in committee, arc likely to last some days. At the Chambers of Commerce Conference yesterday the bankruptcy question Avas discussed, but nothing definite Avas done.
