FATAL ACCIDENTS.
Auckland, This Day,
A man named James Thomas, engineer of the ship Rangitikci, fell off the gangway of the ship while going aboard slightly under the influence of liquor. He was rescued by the second mate and a seaman from the water before life was extinct, but the efforts that were made at resuscitation failed.
Wellington, This day.
On Saturday Mrs' Collins, residing near the camp at Featherston, while in a state of drunkenness, set fire to her house. She was severely burnt and died yesterday. The house-was saved. ■'■ j ■'■ ■
