At tho fire at Messrs Walton, King, and Co.'s confectionary factory the.large stock of goods and ingredients was found to. be. entirely destroyed, and the valuable machinery rendered almost useless. The correct insurances on the stock, .plant, and machinery are—£7so in the Hamburg Magdeburg; £650 in the. Equitable, and £600 in the Mercantile Union. .
Leckie's insurances amount to £100 in the Australian Mercantile office on tho stock, but the furniture is uninsured. ; Invercargill,- This day.
G. Helms' hotel aud billiard-room at Clifton were burned down yesterday morning. The fire started in the kitchen, a.ud very little was saved. The hotel was insured for £600 in the Standard office; the stock for £50, and the furniture for £50, in the South British office, and the billiard - rooom and table for £100 in the Northern Union. Helms estimates his loss at £200 over the insurances.
