QUARTZ GOLD FIELD.
Ross, This day. A quantity of stone, the like of which for rich gold-bearing properties has never been equalled in Reef ton, was brought down from Cedar Creek reefs on Saturday. Since then £24 shares have been constantly changing hands at £50. A company avus floated on Tuesday night with a capital ot £24,000, and tho men iv its employ left yesterday to get out quartz, so as to have it ready by the timo the battery is finished. Some of the pieces of stone brought m on Snturdav avere studded with globules of gold, some as large as peas. A trial crushing of stone showing gold Avas made in the presence of some leading Greymouth quartz reefers, and it yielded highly payable results Tho stone Avas obtained from the AVilliam Tell Company. The Excelsior Compaiw, peg and peg with tho former company, have got on a reef, and are busily getting out stone. Pieces of stone from the latter have been crushed, and yielded at the rate of Soz to the ton.
