FIRES.
Wellington, This day. A six-roomed dwelling house at South Karori, owned by Mr Allan Lewer, was destroyed by fire on Monday night. It was insured in the South British office for £100. The building was unoccupied, and it is believed that the fire was caused by some lads attempting to smoke out a swarm of beos which had taken up their quarters in a part of tho building. Nelson, This day. . On Tuesday evening a dwelling house at Foxhill, owned and occupied by Mr Henry Wrigley, was burned down during the absence of the occupants. A man named Godbaz, who' went upstairs with the view of saving furniture, was unable to descend again, and with difficulty effected his escape by an upper window. The house is said to have been insured in tho South British office for a small amount. The furniture was uninsured. Christchurch, This day. Early this morning an unoccupied house of three rooms on the North Belt was destroyed by fire. The insurance is £100 in the Standard office.
