ACCIDENTS AND CASUALTIES.
Gisbokne, This day. A Maori who attended a tanrji a few days ago was found dead on Ms way home, -with his boy crying - over his corpse. The natives made a coffin, and buried him where he was found. Wangaoti, This day. Cahill, the jockey, who was hurt at the steeplechase meeting on Monday, is progressing:, Nelson, This day. A dreadful accident occurred yesterday to a little boy aged 10 years, a son of Mr H. D. Jackson. He was leading a horse to a paddock to tether him out, when the rope
became entangled round his leg. The horse bolted and dragged the boy some distance. When the boy was picked up it was found that the flesh and skin from the calf of his leg were stripped off and pulled over the heel on to the sole of the foot. Three doctors have been with the boy and sown up the flesh.
