May 27. Letters have been received here from Slatin Bey, the Governor- General of Darfur (an extensive territory belonging to Egypt to the westward of Kordofam) announcing that, supplies having become exhausted, he has yielded to the rebels in order to avoid bloodshed, and the capital of Fashr is now in the hands of the Mahdites.
