The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Te Anau arrived in the roadstead from Melbourne via Southern ports and Wellington on Saturday afternoon. The passengers were brought to the breastwork by the Boojum, and the cargo was placed on board tho lighters. The outward passengers were taken off at 4.30 p.m., the Te Anau steaming for Poverty Bay and Auckland at a late hour in the evening. The brig .Neptune, from Newcastle, arrived this morning with a cargo of coals consigned to Mr Dolbel. A large steamer from Greymouth arrived this morning, and went alongside the ship Northumberland in order to discharge 600 tons of coal. We learn from Wairoa that tho bar is good. Our regular shipping report failed to como to hand to-day.
IBY TELEGRAPH.] Wellington"! This day. Messrs Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's chartered steamer Victory arrived here from London via Plymouth at 9 a.m. yesterday. She came direct from Plymouth, and the passage, which was an uneventful one, occupied 56 days. Tho Victory brings 50 steerage passengers and 370 Government immigrants (including 117 single girls) for all ports. Two deaths occurred among the married immigrants, viz., Wm. Harrison, aged 40, from apoplexy, on the 11th of May, and Berthilda Persson, aged 38, from pelioc abscess on the 24th May. Dr. Milley in his report speaks highly of the attention paid to the passengers by the officers of the ship, and he states that the' provisions and water were in abundance and of good quality. The health and behaviour of immigrants, he mentions, have been exceptionally good. The Victory has 2000 tons of cargo for all ports. The single women were landed in the afternoon and sent to the immigration barracks. Auckland, This day. Arrived, barque Deva, Capt. Pierrepoint, 112 days out from London.
