FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

: CnEiSTCHUBCH, This day. The body of a man named W. Lockwood was found on. the railway line near Heath - cote station yesterday, having been evidently ran over by a train. It is supposed that the accident happened late on Saturday night. Lockwood formerly lived in Timaru, and had a wife and family residing at Heathcote. The following are fuller particulars, of the accident to William Lockwood at Heathcote Valley :—He was last seen at 10 p.m. quite sober going to his brother-in-law's house. It is supposed that he stumbled orer the wires of a signal post, fell on the line, and was stunned, and the 10 o'clock train from Christchurcli coming up directly after ran over him, mangling his body in a terrible manner. ■
