THE SUPREME COURT.

New Plymouth, This day. In the Supreme Court yesterday the case of Burton, charged with arson at Hawera, occupied Iho Guui-t all day. The jury brought in a verdict ut' not guilty, and the Court, adjourned. Burton was brought up to-day and charged with making a false declaration with a view to defrauding an insurance company. Tho prisoner pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to eighteen

months imprisonment. This concluded the criminal cases.
