HAWKE'S BAY STOCK and STATION REPORT, APRIL, 1884.
During the last month there was very little demand for any class of stock except fat wethers, and for these there was a very g-ood demand at late rates, as the Wellington Freezing Companies were buying largely, but they have now got all they require at very little over the prices owners were asking for their sheep off the shears. For the fat stock remaining in the district there is little present demand; most of the boiling-down establishments have booked sheep enough to last them for six weeks to two months, consequently we do not anticipate any great rise for some time.
