HAWKE'S BAY STOCK and STATION REPORT, APRIL, 1884.

During the last month there was very little demand for any class of stock except fat wethers, and for these there was a very g-ood demand at late rates, as the Wellington Freezing Companies were buying largely, but they have now got all they require at very little over the prices owners were asking for their sheep off the shears. For the fat stock remaining in the district there is little present demand; most of the boiling-down establishments have booked sheep enough to last them for six weeks to two months, consequently we do not anticipate any great rise for some time. In store sheep there is a considerable falling oil' ill prices, in fact they arc ruling about the same price now as they did after shearing, and that notwithatamiing the increased value of the skins. Iti cattle there is no alteration in prices, although there is a little more demand for good young steers and dairy cows. The following , are our quotations :— Cattle—Fat, 15s to 16s per lOOlb ; 3-yoar-old steers, £-1 to £4 15s; 2 years, £3 to £4 ; yearlings, 35s to 40s ; cows, £3 10s to £5 ; dairy cows, springing, £0 10-j to £S 10s. Sheep.—Crossbred wether?, fat, 11s Gd to 13.3 Gd ; stores, 9s Gd to 10s Gd ; 2-tooth, Ss to 9s ; ewes, full-mouthed, Gs Gd to 8s; 2 and 4-tooth, 8s Gd to 9s Gd; merino wethers, 8-tooth, 4s Gd to ss: G-tooth, 6s to Gs Gd; 2 and 4-tooth, 7s to 7s Gd ; ewes, aged, 2s to 3s ; 8-tooth, 5s to 5s Gd ; 2 and 4-tooth, 9s to 10s Gd.

Horses. —Medium draughts, unbroken, £14 to £18 ; broken, £20 to £27 ; heavy draughta, £32 to £49 ; harness horses, £15 to £25 ; good hacks, £20 to £25 ; ordinary Hacks, £10 to £12 ; light hacks, £5 to £7. Station Properties, there arc no transactions of note, although are
