THE TAREWA FLAG STATION.
[To tub Editor of the Daily Telegraph.] Sir, —A local appeared in your last night's issuo re the closing of the Tarewa flag station which I think must have crept in without your sanction, as it is in marked contrast to former remarks of yours upon the same subject, and is altogether untrue. What the profits from the flag station may bo I do not know, as I am not aware what tho stoppage costs, but I do know that personally I spend £30 a year in travelling to and from Tarewa, that other members of my family spend moro than double that amount, and that these amounts form but a small proportion of the total receipts. As to the twopences, the public may judge for themselves what your remarks are worth when I state that during tho time that I have been a member of the Education Board I have spent over £100 in travelling to and from the meetings, and have never sought nor expected any return. I have also travelled several times to Napier and Norsewood to attend meetings of Licensing Committees at my own expense.—l am, &c, " '-: Rechab Harding. Napier, Fobruary 27,' 188-1.
