ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT.
Dpnedin, Thiaday
In Joseph Mackay's case at the Police Court to-day Mr Stout, for the defence, commented on the extraordinary conduct of the Insurance Department in having the accused arrested on warrant while out on bail, and .said that, because Mackay had chosen to tell the Treasurer that the Department was rotten, and had left the service to act as collector for a rival Insurance Department, these proceedings had been instituted.
