CALCUTTA

January 25. The Criminal Jurisdiction Bill, introduced by Mr C. P. Ilbert, has now been finally passed by the Council of tho GovernorGeneral of India. The measure provides that Europeans in country districts shall be subject to the jurisdiction of native magistrates, but that prisoners shall bo entitled to a jury consistiugof a majority of Europeans.
