For the Victorian loan there were 554 tenders, covering £5,518,900. Those at £100 Is 6d will receive about 96 per cent., and thoee above that in full. There were four of tho tenders which covered a million and three-quarters, at from par to 2s 6d premium. It ia believed that the recent heavy shipments of gold to Australia reduced the price of the loan by fully 5s per cent.

It is rumored that Lord Augustus Loftus will succeed the Marquis of Normanby as Governor of Victoria.
A large quantity of salmon and trout ova is to be shipped by the lonic to New Zealand.
The estate of Messrs Alexander and Henry Brogden has been liquidated privately
January 24
Messrs Young and Lark, Australian merchants, have sequestrated their estate with liabilities amounting to £280,000, and reported assets in the colonies represen ting 30s in the £1. The Council of tho London Chamber of Commerce has discussed the scheme for tho federation of tho colonies as being one for the establishment of a great trades' union.
