Consols remain at 10 If, and New Zealand securities as follows :—Five per cent 10-40 loan, 105; five per cent 1889 loan, 103J•; .four and a half per cent 1879-1904 loan, ; four per cent inscribed stock, 99£. Tho market rate of discount has advanced to 2J por cent; bank rate, 3 per cent. Adelaide wheat remains at 445, ex-store, and New Zealand ditto at 36s to 42s ; Adolaide flour, ex-store, 31s.
(Received January 24, 1 p.m.) _ Melbournk This day. Mauritius advices to December 20 aro to hand. Messrs Ireland, Eraser, and Co.'s circular reports as follows: —Dry weather provuils. Freights to New Zealand, 40/-. Clearances of sugar to New Zealand ports since last advices are—December 3, Francisco Feliz, 250 tons to Lyttelton; December 10, Rio. 238 tons to Dunedin. The following' New Zealand charters are announced—December 17, Castleton 512 tons for Auckland; December 10, 237 tons for Nelson ; December 13, Alexa with 400 tons for Wellington. The following vossels aro loading—Onyx with 100 tons for Lyttelton, and 300 for other ports. The shipments of sugar for the season amount to 47,250 tons.
