PORT OF NAPIER

ARRIVALS. January. 23—Mary Wadley, three-masted schooner, from Newcastle, New South Wales. ~,,.„ i . -

The sail which was signalled in the South yestorday morning proved to be the throe-masted schooner Mary Wadley, Capt. Moore, "from Newcastle, N.S.W. She arrived at the anchorage early in the afternoon, and .was brought inside and berthed at the breastwork soon afterwards. She report's" having , left Newcastle on tho 12th instant, thus making the run in eleven days, and also to having met with some very heavy weather in Cook's Straits, which smashed her boat in pieces, and did some other minor damage^about the decks. Her cargo of coal ia consigned to Messrs Nelson Brothers and Williams, of Tomoana. . 'Union Company's steamer Southern Cross left Wellington for Northern■;■ East Coast ports at 6 p.m. yesterday, haying some 45 tons of cargo on board for this port._ She is duo hero to-night, will discharge inside tormorrow, and at 4 p.m. is announced to steam for Giaborne and Auckland. As there is still a heavy sea reported to bo running on the Wairoa bar the steamer Maori is yet detained in port. She will leave, however, the first favorable chance. Tho steamer Kiwi is to leave Wellington for Napier and tho const at 6 p.m. to-day, and is clue here on Saturday morning.

4.The p.s. Manain will have steam up at 9 o'clock to-morrow morning, and if a favorable report of the Wairoa bar be then received she will at once take her departure. The Union steamer Taiaroa was to have left Auckland for Southern East Const ports at midday to-day, being duo here on Saturday morning early.

-BARQUE PLEIADES FOR LONDON.

Messrs Shaw Savpl and the Albion Company's barque Pleiades, Captain W. Setten, cleared at the Port Custom House this afternoon, with a cargo consisting of 4746 bales of wool and skins, 130 quarter-bales of wool, 86 casks of tallow, and 4 reels of barbed wiro. The Pleiades will be taking several passengers away from here, and it is expected that she will make sail for London this evening or early to-morrow morning, when wo wish Captain Setten, his officers and passengers, a quick and pleasant run home. -The following is a tabulated statement of her cargo, its various shippers and Talties:— Shipped by Messrs Kinross £ s. d. and Co., her agents.—2B94 bales and 110 quarter-bales of wool, 7 bales of skins, and 4 coils of barbed wire, valued at 44,883 11 7 Shipped by Mr M. Tho Collector of Customs has received a telegram that tho ketch Catlin has got of! into smooth water. The deck cargo was thrown overboard. The vessel is waterlogged.
