Gtckistciiuech, This day. About one hundred of the gathered in front of the Immigration Office yesterday. The Committee appointed by them were received by Mr March, who informed them that the Government was prepared to put on men clearing fences and plantations on the railway lines. Some work would also bo provided in the Addington railway yards and tho Domain. In all cases 4s Gd per day would be paid, and freo passes given on the railway where necessary. Any jobs that woro taken on piece work would be paid for at such rate as to enable ordinary workmen to obtain 4s Gd per day. The committee withdrew and rejoined their companions outside, and on the result being communicated some of those present groaned and manifested their disapproval in other ways. Only fifteen men accepted the terms offered.
