AN ELOPEMENT.—THE PARTIES IN COURT.
Ciiristchurcii, This day. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday Alexander McGillan Avas charged with larceny at Oamaru. He Avas formerly engaged to Mrs Trcloar, but Avent to England, and on his return found she had married. Her husband Avas aAvay from home, and tho tAvo came on to Christchureh, the AA'oman taking some of her husband's property Avith her. It Avas this tho accused Avas charged Avith stealing. His AVorship remarked that it Avas a case of larceny by implication, and Avould be no caso unless adultery could be proved. Inspector Pcndor said the prosecutor was not in a position to prove adultery. Mr Trcloar informed the Bench that he Avas not anxious to proceed AA'ith the case, as his Avifo had promised to return AA'ith him to Oamaru, and he Avas satisfied. Tho accused Avas discharged.
