Young AVatty's dam was a pure Clydcsla.le mare, the Avinner of sovoral prizes, whoso sire was North Briton, the property of Mr Hall, Aberdeen, and bred by Mr Don, of Keirsbcath, Duuifricshire His sire Avas that far-famed horse Samson, which gained many first prizes, belonging to Mr s'tevens, Park Farm, AVest Lothian. ' North Briton's dam was a pure Clydesdale mare (bred by Mr Don, of Koirsbeath) Avho was dam of five other stallions, all ivinners of first prizes. "North Briton was also tho winner of several first, and ivas the first horse drawn at Forfar ivhen rising four years old ; the following year he gained the second prizo at the Highland Show, and tho second year he gained the prize of £30 at Cupar Fife. He has also gained many other prizes. Young AVatty's gninddam Avas also a pure Clydesdale mare, bred by Mr Taylor, '1011-ill ; got by that Avoll-known horse The Sovereign. She gained the Highland Society's first prize when a two-year-old, besides a great many other prizes, thus showing Young AVatty has descended from the best blood Scotland can produce. Lonn Casti.kreagh's dam, ATolet, by Sir Colin Campbell, his sire King Fergus, dam Scotland's Pride, is a Pure Clydesdale mare, bred by the late David Lewis, Esq,, Lincoln-road. She gained first prize as a yearling at tho Canterbury Agricultural Society's Show in 1870 ; also at, the same timo taking Mr AVall's Five Guinea, Cup, for the best Colt or Filly, by Sir Colin Campbell, on the ground. In 1871 she gained the first prize at the Ellcsmere Agricultural Society's Show as a two-year-old. In 1872 she took second prize at the Canterbury Agricultural Society's Show, and first at the Ellcsmere Agricultural Show in the same year. In 1873 she was shown amongst imported mares at tho Canterbury Agricultural Show, ut which site gained second prize, and first at the Ellcsmere Agricultural Show for dry mares same year. In IS7O she gained second prizo amongst imported marcs at the Ellcsmero shoiv ; and in 1877, 1878, and 1870 she was first at Ashburton for brood mares, and Champion for the best mare on the ground. In IS.SO A 7 iolet took in Timaru third prize, and first prize for the best mare Avith two of her progeny. In 1881, at Timaru, she took first prizo for the best brood mare, and first prize for the best mare with two of her progeny. In 1882, Violet took first prize for tho best maro with two of her progeny, j Lord Castlehkaqu Avas shown at Ellcsmere Show in 187S, and took first prize, and the special prize of Threo Guinea Cup for the best three-year-old entires, and first prizo in Christolmrch the same year, and was shown nt Timaru in 1880, and tor_c third prizo. In 1881, at Timaru, he took first prize, beating six competitors. In ISS2, Ist prize for the Best Bred Horse, Ist prize for till Aged Horses and Champion Prize, 10 guinea Cup for the best horse on the ground. Trams : £G 10s each mare ; two or more the bona fide property of the same owner, as per agreement. Mares not proving in foal this season will be served for half price next year.
