Ho is a dark golden eliesnut, standing 10 hands-J inches high, and possesses all the essential qualifications of a sire, viz., good constitution, substance, temper, conformation, and vigour. lie is admirably adapted to get good useful stock, as well as race horses. He is considered by competent judges to bo one of the grandest horses ever scon in New Zealand. St. Patrick is now G years old, is by the celebrated horse The Premier, by Mai ton (imported) out of Revoke, mother of Trump Card, one of the grandest horses ever bred in Ncav Zealand. As a two-year-old he won the Champagne Stakes at Canterbury,' after Avhich he avus purchased lry Mr Stead for 1000 guineas. As a three-year-old ho carried oil' throe Derbys —Canterbury, AVellington, and Dunedin. At Canterbury ho ran second for the Cup, Aveight for age, and on the following day Avon tho Christchurch Plato. At AVellington, after winning the Derby, ran Lara lo a neck- for the Cup, giving him two years and Gibs. Afterwards iv Dunedin he avou the Publicans' Purse Handicap, defeating Isaac Walton over his favorite distance, giving him two years and Tibs. The Premier has also been a grand performer on the turf, having won the AVairarapa Stakes, three miles, beating Knurrhi, Fishhook, ami eight others. 110 also Avon the Empire Plate at AVellington, beating a largo field ; but, like St. Patrick, he Avas put to the stud too soon without giving him a chance to distinguish himself, as bis family has done before and after him. By "Young AVatty " out of il Violet." Sire, tho well-known horse Young AVatty, imported to Alotoria by Mr Durham. Young AVatty Avas bred by tho Duke of Beaufort, Badminton ; ho obtained second prize at the Agricultural Show held at Gloucester, beating fourteen others ; Avhen lavo years old ho obtained tho first prizo at tho Cirencester meeting, beating several three-year-olds. He awis then sold to go to Australia, where he has taken several prizes, being first at Kilmoro against all comers. Afterwards ho Avas imported to Canterbury, where he has taken several first and second prizes, and has given tho highest satisfaction. Young AVatty's sire, Sir Robert, is a pure Clydesdale, and was bred by Mr James Scott Stanley Muir, whoso horses have been sold at higher prices, and Avon more prizes during the last half century, than any others in the AVest of Scotland. Sir Robert was first exhibited at Coldstream in March, 1862, Avhere ho Avon the Union Agricultural Society's prize of £30, beating twenty of the best horses in Scotland. He avou also the Northumberland Society's prize at Belfast, tho same season. In 18G3 ho was exhibited at the Cirencester meeting of the Gloucester Agricultural Society, where he won the first prize. In 18G1, at the Bristol meeting of Bath and West of England Agricultural . Society, ho avou tho £o0 prize given by the ' Bristol Society of Merchant Venturers. In 18G5 ho Avon the first prize at tho Plymouth meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society of England, and has never been beaten.
