A. meeting of the council of the Now Zealand Riile Association Avas held last CA'oning, Avhen tho question of reserve members competing for the belts was discussed, aud it was decided that as the GoA'crnment subsidise the association, and as the belts Avero originally derived from the Government for the purpose of encouraging the efficiency of tho A'oluntcer force, the council suav no reason to alter the published programme iv that respect. It Avas also resolved that the following additions be mado to the carbine aggregates: —First prize to be £25, and that a fifth aggregate prize of £2 10s be added. The question of the prize list was then considered, and the council resolved that as it Avill be necessary for about 200 men from all parts of tho colony to enter for the several matches in order to cover necessary expenditure the lotal amount of donations raised in Auckland will bo added to the programme, should that number enter. But if that number be not reached, a proportionate sum Avill bo added to the programme in accordance Avith the number of entries. Major Shepherd, commanding the Auckland district, Avas elected a vice-president, and Mr A. Dcvore a member of the executive committee of the association.
