The Rifle Volunteers parade in front of the Atheiueum at 7.45 to-night for skirmishing drill. The members of the Loyal Napier Lodge of OddfelloAVS hold their regular fortnightly meeting at the usual place at 8 o'clock tonight. Messrs Banner and Liddle sell new potatoes, maize, and tea by auction at their rooms at noon to-morroyv. The annual meeting of the members of the Clarendon Club is convened for tomorroyv evening. Mr Ryan sells by auction on Friday, on the premises, Hastings street, under distress for rent, tho household furniture and effects of Mr James Corbett. Tho time up to which applications for the post of second master of the Napier district school will be received is again altered from Tuesday, the 20th, to Monday, 19th instant. A special general meeting of members of the Permanent Building and Investment Society is convened for Thursday, 29th instant, to consider business in connection yvith the reserve fund and investment shares. Polk is coming, and opens in the Theatre Royal on Saturday, Ist proximo. The ToAvn Clerk publishes clause 221 of the Municipal Corporations Act for general information, and announces that, on and after December Ist, the Council yvill strictly enforce the layv relating to making drains to connect premises yvith the main sewers. A legal notice of some import to AVilliam Cheltnam, formerly of Napier, is published at the instance of" Messrs Josiah Tutchon and George Jackson, of Gisborne. Tho creditors in the estate of Mr AY. Stock arc requested to meet at the Albion Hotel to drink Robjohns' ale and Avhisky. Mr E. L. Jones, of Auckland, is now in Napier, and is prepared to tune pianos, harmoniums, Sec, in town or country. Mr 11. AVilliams, ironmonger, has been appointed Ilayvke's Bay agent for Samuelson's prize tyvine sheaf-binding reapers. Mr R. Annibal offers £1 reward for the recovery of a grey mare, lost, stolen, or strayed"from the Konini Hotel paddocks. The Bon Marche lias a special line in ladies printed galatea skirts for summer Avear. A number of new advertisements yvill be found in our " AVantcd " column.
