IMPORTANT TO CORDIAL MANUFACTURERS.

At tho Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday a case of some interest to cordial manufacturers yvas decided. Mrs Elizabeth Cooper, yvho is carrying on the business of a cordial-maker, yvas charged yvith having sold seven bottles of lemonade containing John LoAvin Bacon's trade mark. The evidence of tho complainant, an icrated yvater manufacturer, yvas to the effect that he had registered a trade mark composed of letters J.L.8., in an oblong figure, and had notified to all cordial-makers in the city that ho yvould take action against anyone found guilty of using his bottles. He had spokon to the accused on the subject, and she appeared to think it yvorth yvhile to run the risk. Three witnesses swore to receiving bottles of lemonade bearing Bacon's trade mark and Cooper's labels. For the defence it yvas contended that the bottles bad not been filled with tho knoAvlcdge of the defendant. A line of 20s and costs was imposed.
