At the Magistrate's Court yesterday Joseph Gross, a recent arrival from South Africa, for having a number of gold and silver watches and gold chains in his possession on which duty had not been paid, was fined £52, but the Bench advised the Collector of Customs to restore tho goods to the accused if practicable.
