COMMERCIAL.

Messrs Murray, Roberts aud Co. have received the following wool market report from their London firm, dated Gth September: —" Large quantities of wool continue to bo placed on the market, and since tho opening of the scries the average has boon 11,200 bales per da}', of -which 9870 bales have been sold, leaving some 12 per cent to be re-offered, and should the same quantity continue to pass the hammer there is little doubt that the sales will be curtailed by somo clays. A largo portion of tho assortment offered has been scoured oddments and tho tail end of clips. Consumers' capacity to dispose of these sorts has been fairly tested, and as was to be expected, irregularities haA-o been considerable. Tho attendance of buyers has not increased, and competition, although more active towards the close of last week, has again become listless, especially when faulty and inferior parcels are under the hammer. Generally .speaking, the decline on tho May-Juno sales has been fully established, although iv the case of good fine scoured wools, aud tho best middle-class greasics of firm staple and good combing properties, tho fall has been to some extent recovered, and in many cases thoy sell nearly at last sales rates. Middle-class and low scoureds are, however, quite Id per lb lower than last sales, although while tho better tone prevailed the drop to this extent was scarcely so Apparent. Crossbrcds show little change from tho opening night, nor indeed do the usual coarse descriptions vary much in prico from last sales, while the finer grades, especially scoureds arc unaltered. New Zealand scoured merino meets with a ready sale, and for bright bulky parcels prices have been obtained that arc quite equal to those of last series."
