Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co. have received the following report on the wool market from their London firm, dated 21th August : —•" Tho quantity of wool catalogued on tho 21st inst. was considerably in excess of that generally put forward on a first night, but the lots were not more representative than usual, and tho poor assortment, rendered it somewhat difficult; fo form a correct csliinate of (ho slate of Ihn market. Prices opened very irregular, and so far as we wore able to judge showed a decline of about .Id per Hi all round, which information we cabled to the colony in the evening. Subsequent sales have confirmed our opinion, but the many irregularities reveal even greater weakness than was at fh-st appai'eni", and in many cases the fall is even greater. Heavy short merinos, and tho finest grades of greasics, have suffered most, while medium greasies, good combing scoured*, and the small quantity of western fleece wool, are more regular in price. The attendance was only moderate, and tho room did not present by any means an animated appearance.
