Auckland, This day. A strong gale was blowing on Saturday, with storms of rain and hail. The Aveather Avas tho sQA-ercst we have had here for weeks past. In the gale at Hokianga two men were capsized in a boat. One of them, named James Dornil, an engineer, was drowned; the other, named Cochrane, SAvam ashore. AVellington, This day. A southerly gale nged hereon Saturday, but no damage is reported. The steamer AVakntu, which arrived from Kaikoura on Saturday night, met Avith a heavy sea Avhen entering the heads, and one Avavc breaking over the poop damaged the house over the cabin and Hooded tho cabin. No serious damage, Avas however, sustained. Christchurch, This day. Tho Aveathor ay.-is very boisterous on Saturday, but not much rain fell. Greymouth, This day. AVo had Avild wet Aveather on Saturday night and yesterday. Tho bar Avas rough, and no shipping movements wero possible. Dunedin, This day. A good deal of destruction has been Avrought amongst lambs by the severe. Aveather up country. On Saturday morning there Avas a heavy snoAV fall, and yesterday tho Aveather continued boisterous and showery from tho south-Avest.
