The total reserve in the Bank of England in notes and bullion is .£12,700,000, being £200,000 below the reserve last Thursday. Tho proportion of reserve to liabilities has further fallen _ per cent, during tbo week, and is now 41 per cent.
Tho bank rate of discount remains at 3 per cent and the market rate at 2.}. Consols have advanced to 101-;J-.
Now Zealand securities remain at the following quotations:— Five per cent 10-40 loan, 103.1; five por cent ISS9 loan, 10.") J- ; four and a half por cent 1879-1901 loan, 1011; four per cent inscribed stock, 101 i. Tho markets for colonial breadstuffs and tallow are without quotable change. Australian hides arc in good demand at an advance of Icl to : jd per lb. Best selected transparent kauri gum is quoted at £14 10s. Sydney, Friday. New Zealand whent remains at 3 9 ; New Zealand oats are quoted at 2 3 ; maize, 3 1 ; sugar, Company's No. 1 pieces, per ton, £35. Adelaide, Friday. Wheat has fallen Id to 2d during the ■week, aud is now quoted at 4 0, with market quiet; a decline in prices for flour still continues, and town brands are now worth £10 to £10 15-, and country ditto £9 10/- to £10 per ton.
