The Union Company's steamer Southern Cross Capt. Ross, sailed from tho wharf at 4.15 p.m. yesterday for Wellington. The p.s. Manaia, Capt. Baxter, got away for Wairoa at 7.30 a.m. this day, taking cargo and passengers. Tho s.s. Sir Donald, Capt. Quintan, returned from tho coast at 11 o'clock this morning, having landed her cargo at Mocangiangi, Arapawanui, and Tongoio. Tho sail which was signalled yesterday proved, as anticipated, to bo tho New Zealand Shipping Company's 'ship Wairoa, 1015 tons register, Captain Holbeoko, from Wellington. She anchored during tho afternoon well out in tbe bay, where she will throw overboard a quantity of her ballast before coming up to tho anchorage. She already has a quantity of tallow, oil, &c., on board, shipped at Welling!on for London.

The steamer Maori's departure for Wairoa has been postponed. Tho Union Company's steamer Tarawera, Captain Sinclair, from Melbourne and Southern ports, arrived iv the roadstead at 11.30 am. this day, having left Wellington at 5.50 p.m. yesterday. The launch Boojum went out shortly after arrival for passengers and mails, at the same time towing tho lighter Admiral alongside, which latter is to bo the the recipient of the Tarawera's cargo, some 71 tons. The steamer is advertised to resume ber voyage for Sydney and Auckland at 5 p.m. this day. Tho barque Langstonc, Capt. Tonkin, was taken down to tho ballast ground this forenoon where sho will discharge her surplus ballast before proceeding further with her loading.

The steamer AVoka, Capt. John Campbell, cleared at the Customs for Tongoio this morning-, with some station requisites, and will be leaving the first favorable opportunity. Tho Union Company's steamer Te Annn, Capt. McGco, is reported as having left Auckland for Southern East Coast ports and Melbourno at 1.30 p.m. yesterday, having some 25 tons of cargo on board for here. Sho will bo duo in tho roadstead by daylight tomorrow, and after being tendered in the usual way for mails, passengers, and cargo, is announced to steam on hor way at 10 a.m.

The Union Company's new express steamer Takapuna arrived at Tort Chalmers last night at 7.35 from London via Hobart.
