Tho Union Company's steamer Southern Cross, Capt. Ross, from Auckland via Gisborne, arrived hero at 1 15 p.m. yesterday, having left the latter port at midnight on the 10th. Tho Cross discharged her cargo, some 60 tons, at tho cattle wharf to-day, and at 4 o'clock this afternoon Avas to have steamed for AVcllington.
Tho steamer Kiwi, Captain James Campbell, got away for AVcllington at 9 o'clock last night. The s.s. Maori is to steam for AVairoa at 12 o'clock to-night, taking passengers and cargo.
The Union Company's steamer Tarawera, Captain Sinclair, Avas to have left Wellington afe h p.m. this day, and should arrive here in good time to-morrow. She will be tendered on arrival as usual by tlie launch for mails and passengers, and by the lighters for her cargo, Avhich consists of 80 tons. She is announced to steam for the North and Sydney at o p.m. Tho steamer-Sir Donald, Captain Quinlan, took a trip down to Moeangiangi and Tongoio this morning with a quantity of station requisites. Tho three-masted schooner Silver Cloud, Captain Charles Balle, sailed in ballast for Newcastle, New South AValcs, at about 10.30 a.m. this day.
The steamer Manaia, Captain Baxter, is to sail for AVairoa at 7 o'clock to-morrow morning. The Union Company's steamer To Anau, Capt. McGcc, Avas to have left Auckland at about noon to-day, and is due here at daylight on Sunday morning, being advertised to steam hence for Southern ports and Melbourne at 10 a.m. on that day.
A sail Avas signalled from tho South during the greater part of this morning, which will probably prove to bo the New Zealand Shipping Company's ship Wairoa, noAV duo hero from AVcllington.

Tho Catalonia left Madiera on October tho Bth, and the British King the next day. The latter has thus pulled up six days out of the Avceks' start tho big Cunarder had, and both steamers are expected to reach Plymouth on tho same day, about October 14th.
Dunedin, This day
Tho British Queen arrived from London yesterday after a passage from Plymouth of 45 days, 7 hours, uo minutes. Sho brings 500 souls for all ports, 147 of Avhom are for Timaru and Christchurch. The steamer's draught Avhen she crossed the bar at three-quarter Hood was 21 feet aft. There Avere tAvo cases of scarlatina on board shortly after leaving Plymouth, but the disease Avas prevented from spreading.
