By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. [Reuters Telegrams.] FIRM TONE AT THE AVOOL SALES. THE ROCKET FACTORY EXPLOSION AT WOOLWICH. FIGHTING IN MADAGASCAR.—DEFEAT OF THE FRENCH. LONDON. September 24. At to-day's wool sale the catalogue comprised 10,600 bales. The tone of the sale was again firm. September 25. The explosions at the rocket factory at Woolwich continued without intermission for upwards of an hour. Some of the rockets travelled for miles, but in the majority of cases little or no damage was done by them. It is believed that the explosion "of the factory was accidental. Telegrams which have been received from Zanzibar report that fighting has taken place between the Hovas and the French troops in Madagascar. The former made an attack in force on the position occupied by the French on the west coast of the island, and after stubborn fighting lasting for several hours tho French were driven from the position with considerable loss.
