DEATH OF A WELL-KNOWN MAORI CHIEF.
AVanganui, This day. Meto Kingi, the well-known chief and formerly M.H.R., died at Putiki on Saturday from hernia. His age is believed to have been about 70. An application will bo made to the Government on behalf of tho deceased chief's family for a public funeral.
