FINED FOR ASSAULTING A NEWSPAPER REPORTER.
Dunedin, Ths day. At the City Court to-day Thomas Ireland, for assaulting Albert Cohen, a reporter of the Dunedin Star, was fined 40s and costs (£3 Gs), or seven days' imprisonment. The affair arose out of a paragraph recently inserted in the Star re a horsewhipping'case, but all the evidence as to this was excluded by the Bench.
