HOTELS DESTROYED BY FIRE.

Nelson, This day. The Bridge Hotel, Brightwater, kept by Mr Tafuer, was destroyed by fire early on Sunday morning. The stables and outhouses were with great difficulty saved. The hotel was owned by Mr Tafner, and was insured in the Colonial office for £300, and tlio stock and furniture in the same office- for .£'2oo, to secure a mortgage. The fire originated in the kitchen, while Mr and Mrs Tafner were in the front of the house. When the fire was discovered it was impossible to get to the pump, and there was no water closer than one hundred yards. Very little was saved beyond a piano and a cask of beer. Mr Tafner lost his personal effects and £52 in notes. Oajiaku, This day. The Upper Waitaki Ferry Hotel, owned and occupied by Mrs Ross, was destroyed by fire on Sunday morning. The building, furniture, kc, were insured for £1500.
