" Major " Barker, of the Salvation Army, arrived' from Duncdin yesterday, and was welcomed by tho local corps of tho army, who then proceeded to march through the principal streets of the town, with a drum and tin whistle band. They had been warned by tho Mayor and others that their actions w6re likely to frighten horses, but they refused to desist. The result was that a child narrowly escaped being killed by a runaway dray, tho horse drawing which was frightened by tho noise. As it was, the dray passed over tho child's legs, breaking one of them.
