PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS AT WELLINGTON ANGLICAN SYNOD.
Wellington, This day. At the annual session of the Church of England Diocesan Synod tho President, the Bishop of Wellington, in his opening address, said he could not but regard the present education system as likely in years to come to be prejudicial to the interests of the colony. Ho condemned tho Act of Parliament which legalised marriage with a deceased wife's sister, and hoped no clergyman holding a diocese in this district would celebrate the ceremony ; in fact one clergyman had consulted him recently as to such marriage, and he had advised him not to solemnize it.
