ACCIDENTS AND CASUALITIES.
Auckland. This day
Two boys, named Bydder (I o years), and Hughes (13), were out seagull shooting, when the former's gun Avent off accidentally. The ball, Avhich Avas a marble, struck Hughes on tho neck, travelling down his back, and lodging in the lower part. Tlic AA'ound has been probed Avithout discovering the ball, but the boy seems to bear up Avell. Bydder is tho boy avlio swam ashore from the boat out of Avhich Professor AValker avus droAvncd. Hughes is a grandson of Mr Hughes, solicitor.
A child aged two years, a son of Mr Meek, a settler at Taupaki, Avas drowned yesterday in a water hole.

A man named John Johnston, employed at McCallum and Co.'s sawmill, fell in front of the saw, and came in contact with it several times. On being extricated he Avas corn-eyed to the hospital, Avhere ho was found to haA-e sustained a fracture of tho skull, a cut across the back exposing the spine, and a deep gash across tho thigh The sufferer lies in a precarious condition. Work had not fairly begun at the mill, and the saAV Avas not rcvulving at the usual speed, otherwise fatal injuries must have been inflicted.
