COMMITTALS FOR TRIAL.

Three Maoris from Kaiwhaiki, ten miles up the river, Avere committed for trial yesterday at the Supreme Court on a charge of unlawfully Avounditig John Pierey. Tho affair arose out of au attempt by Pierey to impound cattle belonging to one of the defendants, Avhich were "trespassing on Piercy's land at KaiAvhaiki. Pierey has had disputes Avith these natives for years past about the title of the laud, they setting up a claim prior to the Crown grant to another hapu from Avhom Pierey leases it. All three defendants Avere liberated on bail.
Dunedin. This day. Tho throe Roys Avere formally brought up before a Justice"of the Peace at Clinton yesterday. The police withdrcAv the charge, as tho matter had been sufficiently investigated by the coroner's jury. James and Alexander Roy therefore stand committed to the Supreme Court on the charge of manslaughter, and John Roy goes free.
