"Messrs M. R. Miller and Potts report having sold 31 horses at their horse sale held nt Hastings yesterday on account of various oivners. Tho draught stock were a very superior lot, but the drive overland and the short time intervening between their arrival and the sale, did not improve their appearance. The breadstuff's market continues dull. Adelaide wheat has declined by 1 - to 17 -, ox-store; Now Zealand Avheat, ex-store, is quoted at -11 -to 40 -, a. decline of 2 - in the finest qualities. Australian talloiv remains at -10/G for best beef, and 41/ d for best mutton. Meli.oui.ne, Tuesday. The Melbourne manager of tho National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand (limited) reports of the local grain market as follows :—The wheat market is quiet and weaker, shipping wheat realising 4/10 to 111, and fowl's wheat ,'. 0 to 1 3 ; malting barley is firm at 5 3 to G_ 3, and tiie market is active: New Zetland oats are in fair demand at 211 lo 3 2 for feeding, and 3/2 to 3 3 for milling qualities ; New Zealand oats, under bond, 2 2 to 2/5.
