ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

Mrs Peebles tried to hang herself yesterday in the lock-up by a handkerchief tied to the bar of the cell" ventilator. She was purple in the face Avhen cut iloavu. Unpleasantness Avith her friends, she alleged, was the cause, and she expressed regret for Avhat she did. She was committed for trial at the Supreme Court.
