This Day. (Before Captain Preece, R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. George Grey surrendered to his bail, and pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness. Fined 5s and costs, or 48 hours' imprisonment. LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Johnstone Boyle was charged, on the information of Constable Magill, with having, on tho 23th instant, stolen from the person of William McGowan, tho sum of £9 in money, being an indictable offence. Sergeant'Burtenshaw asked for a remand. The prisoner was only arrested late on night, and it was impossible to have the case ready to-day. Mr Leo, who appeared for the prisoner, asked that bail should lie allowed. His Worship remanded the prisoner for a week, and fixed the bail for bis appearance at £200, and two sureties in £100 each. llliWCllES OF "THK SHEEP ACT. A number of persons were lined £2 and costs each for breaches of tho Sheep Act, 1878, in not having furnished to the Sheep Inspector, by the IJJstMtiy last, a return of IT the sheep in'their possession, in the fuini of Schedule A, as required by the Act. In one case against a native Mr McLean explained that the return had been sent in between the time the information was laid and the service of the summons on the defendant. His Worship said that under the circumstances a fine of £1 and costs only woidd be inflicted.
