The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report, under date London, August 21st:—"The sales comprised about 40,000 bales; 50,000_ bales have been sent to the manufacturing districts direct. The opening catalogue contained about 11,000 bales, aiid Avas a fairly representative one. Tho sales opened at an average decline of 5 per cent, on last sales closing rates, except superior greasy and scoured crossbred. There is much irregularity in the bidding. The Aveather is favorable for the crops here."
