MEETINGS OF RACING CLUBS.
Wanganui, This day,
The committee of the AVanganui Jockey Club met yesterday, and agreed to join the Racing Association proposed by tho Hawke's Bay Jockey Club. The committee removed the disqualification from Mata, and from Ray, the jockey. The programme for the coming year Avas framed, the following being the principal alterations from last year:—Spring meeting: Ladies' Bracelet, value 20 soys, for the first horse, and 5 soys for tbe second horse, substituted for the Railway Plate. Autumn meeting :
First clay, Maiden Hurdle Race substituted for Hack Hurdles ; Saplings reduced from 60 soys to 50 soys ; and Flying Handicap reduced from 125 soa-s to 115 soa*s. Second clay, Maiden Plate reduced from 60 soys to 50 soys ; Handicap Hurdles increased from 76 soys to 100 soys ; Wanganui Stakes Handicap reduced from 250 soys to 200 soys, second horse to receive 30 soys instead of 50 soys ; Nursery Handicap reduced from 60 soys to 50 soys; District Race Handicap reduced from 200 soys to 150 soys.
Timaru, This day. At the annual meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club last night the balancesheet showed the receipts for the year to have been £1927, including a balance of £505 in hand at the commencement ; and the expenditure £1877, including clearing off a mortgage on the grand stand of £674. The property of the club on the course consists of the grand stand, appurtenances, fencing, plantation, &c., valued at £2500, Avhich, under the Racecourse Act, must be repaid to the club by the trustees of the reserve as fuuds permit.
