DEPTHS OF WATER ON PORT CHALMERS BAR.

From a series of soundings taken on the bar on Saturday last the depth was shown to be 19 feet 6 inches, and that only in four places extending over a small area. Over a large area on both sides of the leading lights the depths varied from 18 feet to 30 feet. Tho dredge now lifts an average of 1000 tons daily.
