The Artillery, Rfics, and Volunteer Bund parade for inspection in front of the Athcnreum at 7.45 to-night, and afterwards march out.
The ratepayers of Hastings meet in the Town Hall to-night at 7.30 to receive report of committee appointed to enquire into working of Town Districts Act. Messrs J. T. Wood and Co. sell by auction at 1 p.m. to-morrow, in the premises at Hastings lately occupied by Mr Mucdonald, furniture and miscellaneous goods.
Mr Monteifch sella horses, saddles, sheep dogs, ofits, and hams and bacon, at the Horse Bazaar at 1.30 p.m. to-morrow. The annual tea meeting of the Bond of Unity Lodge, 1.0. G.T., will be held in Trinity Church school-room on Tuesday evening next
Messrs Iloadlcy, Lyon and Co. sell by auction, without reserve, on Friday, 27th instant, the whole of Mr Condic's valuable stock of sheep, cattle, horses, effects, &c. A general meeting of members of the Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society is convened for Friday, 3rd August, in the society's rooms, Tennyson street. Unless tlie rates due to the Puketapu Road Board are paid on or before the 28th instant, legal proceedings will be taken to recover them.
Captain Russell invites tenders for the erection of a wool shed at Flaxmere, and alterations to the old one.
The names, tonnage, port, and probable dates of departure of the New Zealand Shipping Company's line of direct steamers to England arc announced. The steamship Catalonia will bo despatched from Lyttelton early in August. Mr R. Brooking has sums of money from £100 to £5000 always available for investment at current rates of interest.
The cheapest establishment in the province for drapery and clothing is tlrjßon Marche, Hastings street. Messrs Blytlic and Co. are selling black satin quilted skirts cheap rather than carry them over to next season.
Mr R. H. Robinson is offering the whole of his well-assorted stock of clothing at slaughtering prices for a few days only. Mr Alexander Browne wants everybody to call at his establishment and obtain the bargains he is offering for cash. A number of new advertisements will be found in our "Wanted " column.
