DEFEAT OF ATTEMPT TO GAG A NEWSPAPER.

Gisborne, This day. Mr W. L. Bees made application at the R.M. Court yesterday to restrain Kenneth Kerr from publishing articles reflecting on the applicants connection with the Native Land Company, and calling upon the defendant to find sureties to keep the peace. After an eloquent address by Mr Kenny in opposition to the prayer of the applicant, in which he pleaded that the liberties of the press be not intorferred with, the Court dismissed the application, each party to pay their own costs.
