July 8. Much consternation is felt at Italian seaports and throughout the country generally at the rapid spread of cholera in Egypt, and fears arc entertained that the epidemic may be introduced by vessels arriving via the Suez Canal. The populace at Brindisi have avoAved their intention of preventing passengers or mails from Egypt being landed at that port, and on the arrival of the P. and O. steamship Surat to-day they refused to alloAV the overland mails to bo brought ashore.
