THE DUNEDIN GAOL INQUIRY.
Dunedin, I his day.
The evidence at the gaol enquiry yesterday was mainly favorable to the management of the gaol under Mr Caldwell. Ono warder said, under the present regime, the warders and prisoners were afraid of eaoh other. Mr Caldwell was a strict disciplinarian, but was a father to the warders. Two warders said they had been spoken to by Mr Caldwell for not reporting prisoners oftencr. Another warder said that he was now afraid to report prisoners, and had allowed one offence to go without reporting it.
