ACCIDENTS AND CASUALTIES.
Christciiurch, This day,
Two men named Burrell and King had a fight at Flaxton yesterday. Burrell knocked King down, and then kicked him on the head and chest, breaking several ribs, and inflicting serious internal injuries. Burrell was arrested and King is in the hospital. A boy, the son of Mr T. S. Western, was making gunpowder, when the canister exploded, inflicting nasty wounds on his face and hands. The dead body of a man' is reported to be lying in the river Ashley, and Sergeant Barlow, of Rangiora, has gone to bring it in. He had not returned when the despatch left. Oajtaru, This day. At the coursing meeting yesterday, a spectator named Walsh was thrown from his horse on to his head and severely injured. He was brought into town for medical attendance. A farmer named Johnson also received injuries by a fall at the meeting.
